Roshan 10 month video

Month 10 was a big one for Roshan, with some major events like Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Milestones:

• Spitting. Lots of it. He got his first complaint from one of his day care colleagues ("Mama Joy, Roshan is spitting on me"). Fortunately, he made it a useful communication tool to tell us when he does not want any more food.
  
• Walking on the furniture. He is all over the place. He even took his musical table and turned it into a baby walker. He has also basically given up improving his crawling technique.
  
• Pulled the keys off his first computer. Roshan loves to grab and pull, which does not work well with keyboards. The first of many things he will eventually destroy.
  
• First taste of over roasted turkey.
  
• First trip to the aquarium. If you hear a kid yelling at the fishes and banging on the windows, that would be Roshan.
  
• Kicked his first soccer ball. He definitely looks right footed.
  
• Placed his first call. He found the re-dial key and called his Agee.
  
• Favorite toy: balloons. He loved has no problem hitting them into his face.

Happy Halloween!

Roshan partied it up on his first Halloween. We first hit the Google party where he was able to show off his sweet pumpkin costume. He ripped it off with 30 minutes, but at least we got some pictures of him. We tried again at the Xcenda party...but he wasn't having it. Oh well, at least I scored some good candy. Thanks Roshan.

Roshan 9 month video

Milestones:

• Roshan learned to pull himself up and stand on furniture. It took a few falls before he learned that it is far better to fall on your butt than your head. He now fears nothing!
  
• First major blow up in public. Monica was in line at the post office when Roshan started to play with some keys from the person behind them. When Monica had to give the keys back, Roshan threw a massive fit as she left the post office and cried for a full city block. Mon had three separate people come to her and make comments about the crying baby. She finally gave in and gave him her keys...and instantly he was fine. It was the first of many times Roshan will be manipulating us.
  
• First taste of wine. We went wine tasting in Sonoma for Sandy's birthday party. Roshan enjoyed some wine and cheese during the event. He loved it. Must be Rupa's influence.
  
• Favorite food: yogurt. Mix in anything in there and he will eat it.
  
• Favorite song: A-B-C-D. It somehow always calms him down.
  
• Favorite toy: spoons and measuring cups. Good thing we bought all of these advanced toys for him.

Roshan Crawls!

Yes, it took a few bumps, bruises, and falls for success...but Roshan is now mobile. It took him about 35 seconds for him to jump to the wires behind the cable modem. Time for some baby proofing...

Roshan 7-8 month

As you can probably tell, I got a little behind on the Roshan videos. It was a crazy few months for us, including Roshan buying us a new house and taking our first family vacation (Glacier National Forest). I will be posting on all of these events separately, but in the meantime...enjoy a new combined 7-8 month video.

Here are a few milestones:

• Clapping. He loves it. The best is when he thinks he has done something interesting and starts to clap so others clap with him.
  
• Traveled out of the state for the first time. Who would have thought it would be Montana?
  
• First flight! It actually went better than expected. We flew to Montana threw Seattle, so they were pretty short flights. For three of the legs, he slept most of the way (motion is like a drug to him). Sadly, the fourth was a disaster. His ears popped, lots of screaming, and embarrassed parents praying the flight would end. I can't imagine the 24 hour flight to India.
  
• Big enough to sit in a high chair. You don't realize the importance of this until it finally happens...parents can eat a normal meal without having to worry about a squirming kid in your arms. It was the first time Monica and I ate at the same time in months.
  
• First bear sighting. Yes, Roshan saw his first bear in the wild. We were in Glacier National Park starting a hike when Monica heard some rumbling in the trees ahead. I figured it was a joke, since I had just told Monica to ignore all of the posted bear warnings. Then she saw a head and we took off with Roshan strapped to my back. A few hikers confirmed later that it was a baby grizzly.

Winkle Wedding

Roshan got his first chance to attend an American wedding. What better place to experience that than in Montana? Bryce and Emily were generous enough to allow Roshan to come along. He ended up having a fantastic time (and was the master of the dance floor).

I put the pictures in a new video service called Animoto. Let me know what you think...

We bought a house! (actually, a condo)

We are now the proud owners of the bottom floor from this remodeled Victorian mansion. The developers ripped everything out and made each floor a separate condo. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1259 square feet, and cost waaaaaay too much money.

We are now in a new neighborhood called NOPA (north panhandle). I don't think that is an official name, but it makes it sound better than old Western Addition. We are sad to leave Noe, but excited to be in a new place close to lots of friends.

This was not an easy process. As many of you know, we have been looking for a new place for almost 8 months. We must have seen over a hundred places during the time (a lot of San Francisco inventory is crap). Then, after we finally find a place, the mortgage market collapses with the fall of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Fortunately, it all worked out.

We are incredibly excited...and now officially are rooting for a housing recovery. We hope to have all of you over soon!
