Some points of comparison
Since several people have mention it is difficult to decide which parent Roshan looks like without a fair point of comparison, here are a couple of pictures to help you out. The first is me as a baby, the second is Monica.

Faces of Roshan
One of the favorite games for people (especially family), is to discuss which parent a newborn child resembles. Personally, I don't think a newborn looks like anybody until they are past one year of age, but I don't want to get in the way of tradition...
In the spirit of election season, let's have the people decide. Take a look at the video slide show below and state your preference. Although the market failed in guessing the baby's sex, let's try one more time.
Update: Since thus far all votes were for the "Nobody" option, I removed it. Just didn't seem to follow the spirit of the game. So this time you need to make a choice!
Finally, nice work to those who continued to vote for boy after the baby was born. I'm all about skewing results to prove the market was right!

Baby Chandra has arrived!
On January 24th at 9:08AM, the Chandra family was blessed with a new son, Roshan (meaning "shining light"). It is still hard to get over our immediate joy and shock. Reality has finally hit.
A few specs for those in the crowd keeping score.
Weight: 5 pounds, 8 ounces
Length: 18 inches
Cuteness: off the charts. See video below for confirmation.
Thankfully for mom, the labor was relatively short for a first time pregnancy. All said and done, it took less than 7 hours from water break to delivery versus the average of 18 hours! And forget diamonds being a woman's best friend...it's all about the epidural.
Thanks to everyone for their care and support. We promise to catch up with you all once we are ready!

Baby Prep
Before the pregnancy, I had assumed that baby prep was pretty easy...buy a crib, a car seat, some baby clothes and a good cigar. Then I walked into a Babies R Us.
Imagine a store the size of Walmart dedicated to a person the size of a loaf of bread. It makes you wonder how we survived the wild without our baby swings, tub thermometers, or diaper stacker. On top of that, you have the pleasure of choosing from 30 different strollers, 15 different car seats, and even 10 different mattresses (spring or foam?).
Fortunately, we were recommended a magical book called Baby Bargains. It looks at every product category, reviews all of the brands, and makes top recommendations. Seriously, this book saved me hours from comparing features like pump flow (breast pumps) or a 3 vs 5-point harness (car seat). And thanks to Chi-Hua and Sohi's friend, you can now get a full summary of the book by clicking here. Do you really need all this stuff? No. But does everyone buy it? Yes.
It also doesn't help that you need to find a place to store all of this stuff. We had to do several weekends of housecleaning and furniture assembly, with much needed help from Monica's family. That doesn't include the three hour tours of Babies R Us to check out strollers. This helps to explain why we haven't seen many of you in a while.
The good news is we are now all set. Now we just need the baby...

Freedom for a night
One of the things you realize as you get closer and closer to the date is how you will be missing the little things once the baby is born. Going to the movies, watching the game at a bar, player poker to 5am, enjoying a fancy dinner, sleeping...you know, being fully independent. (Golf intentionally excluded. I'm convinced the car seat can fit on a golf cart and must be good for the baby).
My hope was that even after we got pregnant we could have one last hurrah and max out on all of the things we haven't had a chance to do yet. Little do I know how exhausted we would be from the pregnancy itself. So it was a nice relief when we finally got to get away from all the baby planning and enjoy a Cirque de Soleil show. And yes, I realize we haven't even had the baby yet.
